Levels of Care

Levels of Care for Mental Health

Seeking mental health care and support quickly becomes confusing with all of the care options that are available. Rather than being overwhelmed by the options, learning more about them one at a time can help you better understand which option is best for you. Each has its advantages and can provide practical help if you align the program with your needs. Here is what you need to know about the different levels of behavioral health care and which levels of care you can find at Alias Behavioral Health.

Our Levels of Care

We offer several levels of care, ranging from intensive to helping you find resources outside our facilities. Here is what you need to know to find the right level of care for your needs.

PHP

Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP) offer structured support without the need for overnight stays. This program suits you if you need daily treatment but not full hospitalization. PHP includes therapy, education, and clinical support that help stabilize symptoms and create a path toward wellness.

You attend sessions during the day, then return home. This structure allows you to remain connected to your environment while receiving full support. Treatment includes group therapy, skill development, medication management, and family sessions. These services work together to support emotional regulation and daily function. You begin to rebuild confidence while forming habits that improve your long-term mental health.

IOP

Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) provide consistent support while you manage work, school, or home responsibilities. This level of care suits you if you no longer need full-day treatment but still want regular structure. You attend several sessions each week, including group and individual therapy.

IOP encourages connection and accountability. You join others who also aim to stay focused on their recovery. Through repeated skill-building and guided discussion, you grow more confident in your ability to manage stress, stay grounded, and improve relationships. This level allows you to stay in treatment while living your life. Each session moves you closer to emotional stability.

“Mental health… is not a destination, but a process. It’s about how you drive, not where you’re going.”

Aftercare support planning helps you stay focused after PHP or IOP. It connects you to resources that support long-term wellness. This plan includes therapy, group meetings, and other services that reinforce what you’ve already built.

You continue with regular check-ins and structure. You create goals and use the support around you to maintain progress. We also involve your family or support network if needed. We ensure that your plan reflects your values and direction. A well-structured plan reduces the risk of setbacks and helps you move forward with more confidence and clarity.

Therapy Options

Each level of care combines several methods of treatment to address concerns in different ways. These are some of the methods that we use to help you make progress.

Group therapy offers connection and reflection. You join others who share similar struggles and goals. These sessions focus on topics such as communication, stress reduction, emotional control, and boundaries.

Individual therapy creates space for you to focus deeply. You speak with a licensed therapist in private sessions. These conversations help you explore thoughts and behaviors that affect your life. You work on trauma, anxiety, depression, or other concerns at your own pace.

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) teaches skills that support emotional balance. This approach helps with strong emotions and unstable relationships. DBT often works well for those with intense mood swings, harmful behaviors, or impulsive reactions.

Trauma-Informed Therapy focuses on safety and emotional support. This approach respects your history and allows you to move through painful memories with care. Therapy supports you as you rebuild trust in yourself and others.

Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) focuses on the link between thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. You learn to identify negative patterns and replace them with thoughts that lead to better choices.
